Egg DonationProcess
speak with a specialistHow Does Egg Donation Work?
Egg donation makes baby dreams come true for thousands of women and men every year. This life-giving service is the process by which a woman donates her eggs to help another conceive as part of assisted reproduction treatment (ART).
The egg is fertilized in a laboratory using a technique called In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). In some cases, donated semen or a gestational surrogate is also needed for the pregnancy.
Egg donation makes pregnancy possible for women who are unable to conceive using their own eggs. It is also a viable solution for male couples or single intended parents who wish to have a baby using donated eggs and a gestational surrogate.
When is Egg Donation Needed?
ELITE IVF has a long-standing record of accomplishment in guiding our patients through the process of egg donation and helping them have a baby. Common areas where egg donation can help include:
-
Oocyte Viability
Ovarian failure is often related to advanced reproductive age, but it can occur earlier (before 40-45 years). The cause for early ovarian failure is often unknown. An egg donor program can make pregnancy possible for those struggling with ovarian failure.
-
Early Menopause and Developmental Disorders
For some women, the early onset of menopause leads to the use of an egg donation program. Likewise, women who have been born without ovaries or other reproductive organs will find a full-service egg donation agency invaluable when they are ready to start a family.
-
Genetic Disorders or Poor Responses to Treatment
Many women use a full-service egg donation agency to avoid passing on genetic disorders. Likewise, women who may not have responded well to the hormone treatments given during IVF therapy or have had reproductive organs damaged or removed via surgery may find that an egg donation program can provide the solution.
Are Egg Donors Anonymous?
EGG DONORS HAVE THE OPTION TO EITHER DONATE ANONYMOUSLY OR OFFER OPEN ID.
With open ID, the donor’s details are available for the child after he or she turns 18 years of age. The preference of the egg donor and recipient will determine whether the egg donation is via an anonymous or open ID. At ELITE IVF, we pride ourselves on our matching process, and will connect you with an egg donor who is the best fit for your family.

Egg Donation Success Rate
When it’s time for egg retrieval, our fertility experts use advanced IVF treatment protocols to collect the eggs from the donor. Our medical team fertilizes these eggs with semen, and then transfers the resulting embryo/s to the patient. The semen is either taken from the recipient couple, or from a pre-screened sperm donor.
